Welcome - Summer Break is Almost Here..............

Welcome to our new site focused on family and getting out in nature.  In today's world we are often consumed with daily schedules, multi-tasking, and simply getting the kids from one activity to the next.  Our generation has access to the world with just a voice command to our closest device.  Why is it that the simple things in life seem to have escaped us, or are they still there and we just need to go get them?

Another school year is coming to a close and yet our summer seems to already be filled with soccer camps, expected play dates, and a list of to-do's because we feel the need to fill our "down" time.  I reflect back to my days as a kid waiting for the last couple weeks of school to end while dreaming of summer break.  The possibilities seemed endless but none of it was on a schedule or pre-registered for.  Watching the clouds pass over a warm afternoon sky, a cold glass of lemonade with Grandma and Grandpa, and rainy days meant a trip to the library for a good read. I enjoyed the thought of being able to take off with my friends on our bikes in the morning, stop back home for lunch, and then disappear again until the sun came back down to the horizon.  We spent our summer weekends at our cabin on Lake Vermilion in Northern Minnesota boating, fishing, and roasting hot dogs and marshmallows by campfire.  The summers also had their share of boredom but we didn't require a fidget spinner, only a push by Mom to get out of the house.

Over the last couple years my wife and I have come to realize that we got caught up in the suburban life and nature became easily lost in our lives.  The Lord has taught us that all the possessions we hold in our suburban life can't compare to the feeling of tackling a mountain hike and seeing God's beauty and grace.  We hope that this site helps you and your family get out and enjoy nature.  We will give tips we have learned to make it easier, but the biggest is just get out there!  There is no better time than now, even if you have to book it in your summer schedule today.  Your kids will thank you years from now as they look back on their summer memories.

There is a trail out there for everyone!
